  • Missing as a result of the great computer crash of 2016 along with 10 months of TNs.

  • drank from magnum. no decant. this wine was much better than expected. for the price point I thought it was excellent. plenty of tart fruit/acidity with some red fruit that made it a pleasure to drink. consumed with sushi. I thought it paired well.

  • Thankfully, no note of VA in this bottle after the cork clears the neck. Instead, the bouquet is strong with cassis, iodine, and eucalyptus. The palate is strong with extracted sweet, black fruits, deep bing cherry and baking spices. The finish of brined black olives makes me wish we’d had some on our plates. Instead, we get by with almond stuffed green olives, blue cheeses, molé, surryano ham and crusty bread . The purple rim immediately gives way to a broad inky core. This is a big wine of power and extraction; more so than I usually find in syrache bottlings. Throwing some heavy sediment now. 14.8% alc., which didn’t appear to leave any heat in the prior bottle, nevertheless finishes hot in this bottle. With and assorted olives. Recommended.

  • The distinct smell of nail polish speaks of VA. It’s strong at the beginning and it never quite blows off. But in spite of the VA, the wine still powers through with a nose of blackberry, cherry, rosemary/eucalyptus and spices including cloves and cinnamon. The finish is more brined black olives than anything else. The color is purple at the rim, but quickly becomes a deep, opaque core. A wine of power and resolved tannins. 14.8% alc., but no heat. With blue cheeses, molé, surryano ham, crusty bread and assorted olives. Recommended.

  • Dark, inky color. Pleasant nose. Mixed fruits and spices. Very well balanced. Medium finish. Still very drinkable if properly cellared.
