Classic Hunter River Burgundy nose. Light to medium-bodied, tertiary notes now predominant - cloves, mushrooms, earth, sit on top of red fruits. Fine-boned acidity drawing nicely through the palate. Nicely balanced. It's at a plateau or on a gentle decline, but it's quite a good Hunter River Burgundy given it's an 03.
From a bottle with good fill, no leakage in the cork but crumbled on extraction. Tasting note recorded 2.5 hours after opening, with wine in a decanter.

NobleRottersSydney - Hunter Valley; 8/13/1999-8/15/1999 (Hunter Valley): {cork} Less pungent than the preceding bottle ‘94 vintage. Cherry/plum nose, almost with a liquorice flavour on the palate. Pronounced tannins too. Doesn’t really seem built for the long haul (the xx03 Bin number being the ‘regular’ release as opposed to the ‘00’ or ‘10’ reserve versions).

Raid Len's Cellar #6: Band aids and stalk, some DMS/blackcurrant notes too. Astringent palate, seems rather bitter and short. A poor showing.
