Hermitage's Dinner (Noizé): When is a backup not a backup? When it's a cheeky little extra generously opened at the end of an exquisite evening. There's more funk here, more shrillness, more nervy energy. This type of wine really speaks to my soul. Very well served at this point, and did not give this wine the time to truly engage, but what a lovely end to proceedings.

Drank alongside 97 Chave. I preferred this, but not by much. Both were excellent. I’d say this is still improving, but close to peak. A meaty, rustic wine with some classic olive notes in the background. Very nice balance and acidity. Not much tannin left (but did throw off a lot of sediment).

Rhône or Nôwhere 2.0 (Malcolm, NE): Another producer to inherit some vineyards from Verset was Thiérry Allemand who purchased Noëls holdings in Reynard. That vineyard is the cornerstone for this wine. The 1999 Allemand “Reynard” is still full of fresh brambles, some cow pasture, and beautiful purple flowers. It’s sanguine with inorganic earth and gentle spices. Bangin’ with venison, umami bomb, potato and pearl onion. This is gorgeous and should be outstanding through 2040+. Merci Matt!

This is singing - once again. A complete wine, smooth, matur, with a deep, deep fruit, notes of olives, minerals, tobacco. I could drink a case of you and still be on my feet ... #IB

This was the best bottle from an OCC so far. Typical Allemand aromatics, flavor profile and silky texture.
