This is excellent. Quite reductive but with depth and complexity to back it up. Romanee is arguably more incisive and less round than Conti according to LMLB. (967/3356)

It is a wine that must first be smelled ... superb nose of rose, old faded rose, and intense fruit accompanied by a large armful of spices ... The attack is broad , creamy, rich, with a fully integrated structure as the tannins have been melted into the mass. Great development on the palate, the wine persists and goes almost to saturating the taste buds with a very long finish, with a mineral return that takes on such power that it even ends up overwhelming the fruit. Superb bottle, the most beautiful Romanée produced here.

Enormous! Without a doubt the best Romanée ever made. I can finally answer the question "If you leave on a desert island, what is the only object you would take?" I would put more precise comments in a few days. Even better than grandiose 2009, 2010 and 2012

This too is very reserved and only grudgingly reveals its gorgeously pure, elegant and wafting nose which speaks of violet, lavender, Asian-style tea, sandalwood and softly spiced dark currant, plum and black raspberry scents. The silky but intense and exquisitely delineated medium weight flavors possess flat out superb depth on the impressively persistent finish. As it always is at this early stage, the '18 La Romanée is compact yet marvelously classy. Patience strongly advised, indeed I wouldn't even think of opening a bottle before its 15th birthday as it's clearly going to require extended cellaring if you wish to enjoy it at its peak. One of the wines of the 2018 vintage.

Quite resplendent with floral aromatics that sing. Sweetness, depth, intensity and purity. The whole package. (959/3356)
