A wine that has the purest and deepest fruit that I have yet encountered. It's clear it's not an extracted wine in any way which make the depth it possesses simply unbelievable. Its tannins are unnoticable as they are so seamless. The wine enraps you in velvet and silk and just carries on with endless red fruit, spice, black truffle and umami - however the tertiary notes here largely still well hidden which means if opening today while the drinking pleasure is off the charts one likely leaves a keleidoscope of aromas to emerge over the next many decades undiscovered. If i had to peg the wines ideal drinking window it would be 2050-2100 such is the confidence in the quality of fruit and raw materials and freshness it possesses. Lucky people to see it's prime will likely be mind boggled. Today I feel you will get more gratification from say the 08 Romanee which seems like it has "broken" more into its nuances. That though takes nothing away from this sublime experience the 2005 offered. Two bottles opened showed consistent. Drinking those in the presence of Louis-Michel at the table made this ever more special. Wow wine for sure. 98 (today) - 100 (at some point quite certainly)

Second time I have been lucky to taste this wine. Absolutely stunning. A true legend. The best of them all this wonderful vintage? Give this monumental wine time to develop in cellar. (2020-2070+/-)

Tasted at a Liger-Belair tasting (all Vosne wines from 2003, 2004 and 2005). Immediate smelling revealed quite a lot of toast, but this disappeared after a little while. This is a very complete wine, even more complex than the 2004. Excellent floral notes, red fruit, coffee, mocca. Very friendly, but without losing its complexity. Great class. One of my favorites.
