Community Tasting Notes (3)

  • This is the second bottle of this wine that I have had and it has been something of a disappointment both times. Very light aromas and a pronounced tanginess, which was refreshing but may have been too much considering the deficit of fruit. The palate seemed to be in an awkward place--juicy but not terribly interesting. I drank this with my father, a Shiraz man (I know, I know... believe me our choice in wine is not the only thing we don't have in common), and he said there "wasn't much to it" and that it "wasn't very good." I'm going to disagree with him, provisionally. For now.

  • Faint strawberry nose; tangy and crisp on the palate. Opened slightly over the course of an hour and a half. I didn't decant, but I expected it to be more assertive early on. I had a glass and a half and I'll check again tomorrow. I think these wines may need a year or two.

Rockss and Fruit

(Desvignes Morgon Cote de Py) This showed very well. The aromas were a but shy but that was due to the coldness of the cellar rather than to the wine being aromatically shut. The palate had it al. Ripe, juicy, complex with phenomenally deep fruit. Really densely structured wine. This puts the more in Morgon. Fantastic.
