NobleRottersSydney - Christmas Lunch 2018 (Noum, Surry Hills, Syndey): {cork, 12.8%} [Glenn] Petaluma Riesling even at ten years old is usually a safe bet to be over the hill in my experience, more so with a cork seal. Twenty years is pretty much a certainty to be shot, which this bottle confirmed by the deep gold colour alone. It has a sherry-like nose, with additional aromas of vanilla bean and brown leaves. Initially you think the palate might manage some interest, but very quickly it’s obvious that the acid is gone, there’s no length, little body. Well past peak.

Seems to be in quite good condtion, but would never be confused for a fresh bottle. Dark yellow color, with juicy acidity. Has a tropical fruit nose, tastes of concord grapes with a bit of golden raisin. Still fresh tasting and extremely enjoyable.
There's no reason to wait, but no reason to rush either.

Med to deep golden straw. Nose Ripe kiwi and lychee aromas with fat petrolly edge. Dryish med acidity full bodied and slightly top heavy. Rich lychee, pineapple and lime fruit with honey and barley sugar notes and very good length. Still there and developed in glass but i suspect slightly past its best.

Riesling and Kraftwerk (My place, parramatta, sydney): The cork looked good but was damaged - the core tore out leaving the exterior firmly wedged. Wine was decanted through filter. Oxidised nose with slight aromas of lime pith and honey. More of the same on the palate with a drying grip. Obviously out of condition but still pleasant to sip.

NobleRottersSydney - Random night (Verde, East Sydney): [cork, 12.8%] {Bruce} Murky amber. Maderized nose, thoroughly oxidized palate. Deader than dead, if that’s possible.
