  • Deep yellow gold, though slightly lighter than the '99. Nose of spiced honey (honey, cloves, cinnamon), with a hint of kerosene. Medium-bodied and off-dry, with a rich flavour resembling honey-lemon tea (with one sugar). Lime juice persists on the finish. Drinking well now, but could survive for a few more years.

P.S. Re-examination after being re-corked and refrigerated for 24 hours confirmed initial impressions: the '99 was still drinkable but clearly deteriorating; the '92 was still drinking well, though the flavours were fainter and better integrated than on the first night.

  • Tired but v.pleasant - the tiny touch of botrytis adds weight and body to the wine.
