My second try with Brezza Cannubi, and another disappointment. It’s weak and slightly cooked, less than the 2011 vintage that I did not like at all, but considering the fantastic 2016 in Barolo, this is the only Barolo I have not liked from that vintage. It improves on day 2 it has to be said, but I am now definitely not giving this wine or producer a third chance any time soon 😅

Decanted for 45 mins. Pale garnet color with some bricking at the rim. Killer nose of rose petal, cinnamon, red cherries, dried sour cherries and some other sweet baking spice notes. Potential hint of balsamic coming through as well. Similar flavors on the palate with the sour cherry note really hitting the palate along with some cedar cigar box as well. Medium+ acid and tannin. Long finish. Drinking very well with some air so while there is plenty of life ahead, no reason you can't enjoy these wines now.

A sweet presentation of refreshing Chinese herbs that reminded me of a sweet Chinese cough syrup I drank as a kid. This is a hard wine to swallow, as you have to really focus on the sweetness hiding behind the tannins.
The structure is lacking as the fruit takes a backseat to its many other characteristics, but I personally found this charming and enjoyed the rough yet personable nature of the wine.

Aromas of rose petal, perfumed berry and menthol are front and center on this elegant, fragrant red. Loaded with finesse, the focused, full-bodied palate combines grace and structure, delivering succulent red cherry, raspberry compote, white pepper and star anise alongside bright acidity and youthfully taut, refined tannins. It's radiant. Drink 2024–2036. KERIN O’KEEFE

Dark red color. Dark dull cherry with some licorice notes. Fresh taut with good fruit. Dry slightly poor dark cherry. Hints of licorice compote. Good.
