My favorite vineyard and producer when it comes to dry German Riesling. Felseneck is amazing too, but most times I favor the Halenberg vineyard. Fantastic precise and laser sharp acidity. Beautiful soft tropical fruit notes and great mineral notes with a soft flint stone touch. Fresh and elegant structure. Beautiful long finish, simply amazing. Very young, no signs of tertiary notes yet. Plenty of great years ahead. (IG)

Tasting in Germany during a brief COVID interlude - November/December 2021; 11/19/2021-12/2/2021 (Germany - Schwanau/Monschau): 97pts. S-F Halenberg was the most satisfying Riesling of this 9-wine flight, and it came on top against some of the very best wines of Germany. This might sound like heresy, but I'll write it anyway: Halenberg is at least at the same level as S-F Felseneck GG in good vintages, being able to combine Felseneck's remarkable minerality and purity with an array of tropical fruit like lemon, pineapple and orange peel. Long, balanced, powerful but restrained, this is a desert island Riesling. I love it - what a wine, and a great QPR too. Drink or hold.

Back to Riesling County; 8/27/2020-8/31/2020 (Estates at the Nahe and Ruwer, different restaurants at Bad Kreuznach, Niederhausen and Trier): The alpha male producer of this vineyard is E-S, only 0,3 hectares from here,
but again, this slate aroma, clean, ultradry, tight and mouthwatering, full of tension, wait for half a decade at least, *(***-****), around 94+ potential
