  Tasted over 3 days. First night Slo-ox for 1 hour. Drank half. Smoke, black currant and red fruits with harsh tannin mid-palate. Full bodied and on the harsher side. Second night was again big on fruit and tannin. Third night was undrinkable...throat burn. No doubt this vintage is not going to be long-lived and should be enjoyed in one day. This was my first Runrig since the early 2000s..before joining CT. 91 points given for 1st day only.

  This happens to be my 250th 📝 review on Vivino after 210 days in 2022.. its barely past half way through the year. Hmm.. Got to slow down 🥴 💸
  
  Cherries, light smoke and even some peach on the nose, simply luscious. Full bodied, but surprisingly the tannins are resolved and ultra fine.
  
  Perhaps the cool vintage lends itself to its elegance, freshness and restraint?
  
  🍇 Cold rainy 2016 winter, then Spring 2017 was very wet replenishing the moisture in the soil for a warm Indian summer ☀️ Thus perfect ripening conditions for Apr 2017.
  
  2017 is described as an outstanding vintage producing bright, aromatic whites and intense, well-structured reds.. I agree!
  
  💰 In terms of a value proposition, USD 200 is never cheap for grapejuice but considering Laird is 3x more.. its a steal!
  
  Simply outstanding, our favourite in a flight of 4 magical bottles, RunRig 17/18 and The Laird 06/10! Torbreck event at EQ's Sabayon over 50 floors up above Kuala Lumpur.. Divine wines and great company.
  
  Whats a RunRig? Highland clans used a RunRig system to distribute land amongst their clansmen, and interestingly the focus was to create a communal element not favouring 1 particular clan or farm.
  
  Torbreck's RunRig is made of 98% Shiraz, 2% Viognier, from an assemblage of 6 Vineyards; Lyndoch, Rowland Flat, Moppa, Ebenezer, Light Pass, Greenock.
  
  Andrew Tierney (Torbreck host) describes this as a more favourable way of achieving consistency year on year, instead of wines from a single wineyard.
  
  RunRig 2017 may have 15% ABV but has an amazing lightness that contrasts beautifully with the dense nature of this complex Shiraz.
  
  Stunning dark fruits and plums, the tannins coat your mouth providing a velvet like finish.
  
  The finish itself is amazing, very long and cries out for more pours. I can't wait to try the 2 bottles we bought after this Torbreck event.. in 2029 and 2034!

  An interesting experience. It was more subtle, elegant and pleasant upon PNP, with a predominant finishing flavor of caramel. Initial thought was the midpoint between French and say, Alban. After an hour of air flavors grew to be more massive and the heat expanded. In the first 20 minutes, I would’ve scored 96, and I think that’s where it winds up with 3 years and 3 hours. If there’s a 3rd personality presenting tomorrow, I’ll update the note.
  
  This is the first Runrig I’ve had; the quality is certainly high; I’ll probably open bottle 2/2 in 2025.

  My first RunRig in probably 5 years. Opened for 2 hours. Color is deep garnet/purple. ON the nose: Pepper, plums, cedar, cassis and espresso. On the palate: Rich ripe Plums, pepper, cassis, prune and espresso. Massive flavors of very ripe fruit. Wine is viscous and coating. This is a big boy. Not jammy but fruit is big and explosive. I prefer Northern Rhône style but this is very very good for a change of pace. I have 2 more bottles which I will let age a bit.
