Punching above its belt, brick red and crystal edges, define the profile and glide you into the aromas like a Sam Hunt riff. Lots of fresh market berries and some warm smoke and Berkshire fat rendered into some blackberry jam. Leather saddle and currants hit you across the face before you get washed over blackberries and some green stems. The finish is impressive and lingering like Sam’s encore on a summer night. Buy more if you can, and if you have it cellar or drink. It has aging potential for sure.

Deep purple color, earthy nose, tobacco is prominent. Rich berry flavor, blueberry & raspberry that holds through the finish, opening slightly with more herbal flavors like clove. Definitely a wine that needs to breathe for an hour or two before drinking. Maybe even better after a day or 2.

Day three, I would have reviewed it before today, but there wouldn’t have been much to comment on this young offering.
Dark garnet in the glass, violet edges. Blackberry jam and blueberry pie dominate the nose with a hint of cedar and cigar box. By the third day the heavy tannin has burned off and each day this wine became more approachable and enjoyable. Same dark fruits penetrate the palate along with a tabacco finish that lingers like a groupie at a concert. It’s still a massive Zin and given its time to tame, I would plan to cellar this for a minimum of five years. While it’s not a predigree Zin, it a great entry level wine for someone looking at this varietal.

Oh yes, this is ready to drink. PNP into a decanter, swished around a lot and then poured pretty quickly into glasses. That seemed to do the trick. It has a slight darkish tinge, which seemed almost surprising for a wine that's not very old, but it does taste as if it's aged beautifully. The flavors are very smooth and supple, peppery with dark fruits.
