  • Straw gold. Gently leesy nose segues into a faintly cumin-spiced black bean sort of aromatic mix. Massive in the mouth, with building bitterness that sneaks up on you. Unique and attention-grabbing stuff here.

  • Honey and beeswax up front, with white flower notes. Honey, limeflowers, then a crisp mineral, slightly bitter, long finish. Unique, delicious, complex, outstanding wine. So much to discover in these Italian whites.

  • This was tremendous -- more full-bodied than a typical Sauv Blanc, not as heavy or cloying as the vast majority of Chards I have ever encountered, and when paired with a strong blue cheese, gloriously floral and fruity subtleties came forth from the acidic, medium-bodied wine. (On its own, it tasted a bit like a good SB with the body typical of a Chardonnay or Pinot Gris, hence the comparisons. But when paired with Roquefort it suddenly came into its own.) Very nice, although at almost $20/bottle for an obscure Piedmontese white, not exactly an everynight quaffer. Everyone who tried this (especially with the cheese) loved it. If you enjoy Grechetto or Falanghina, you will probably find this to be a more restrained, fuller-bodied expression in a similar vein, especially with the right dish.
