  • Tremendous, old-school California cab. If only more CA cab were made this way. 13.5%

  • This is raw, tense and tangy, but there's so much character. Aromas of green tobacco, bay leaf, iodine, salt marsh, ink, sour cherry, red plum, blackcurrant, antique cabinet, ethereal cinnamon and dried rose petals. On the palate there's a bold attack of tart crunchy fruits; gorgeous inner perfume features red cherry, chocolate, tobacco and myriad delicate minty herbs; deep deep acid cut and firm tannic grip, the structure is towering and coats every corner of the mouth. Dark fruits come through as the finish forms, but gorgeous red stone fruits and raspberries are assertive, many subtle spicy, earthy and floral tones come up too. This is complex and intense, but primary and unformed. I am confident it will come together, but it is uncommonly tart for Cali Cab and it'll probably take a long time, perhaps more than 10 or 15 years. If you're gonna pop one soon, have it with some red meat, I'm thinking lamb.

  • Decanted for three hours. This is tight and effectively way too young. Sour black cherries, walnuts, teak, red currants, blackberries and menthol. There’s a slight flower shop aspect as well. Fibrous tannins, with structure and grip. The middle is round. Medium in body and truly meant to age, with old school tendencies. Drink 2027 -.
