Classic Vosne-spices with red cherry and black currant. Structured and focused with melted tannin. Sweet cranberry with a hint of earthiness. Very poised.

Zachys La Paulee "Warm-up" Dinner (Lafayette - New York NY): Served double blind. I thought this showed lots of red fruit with Asian five spice and very good density. All this took me to Vosne Grand Cru and its maturity level to approximately 1985-1990. Based on a recent bottle I opened, I thought perhaps Mongeard-Mugneret 1985 Grands-Echezeaux.

"The Good Stuff" 2011 -- A double blind tasting (La Fonda del Sol, NYC): Sweet, light, expansive. Explodes in the mouth with cherry and cola. Very extracted. Great smooth feel. Very full, richly flavored but light weight. A nice example but a bit sweet for me. I guessed Napa Pinot from the late '90's. This was the group's #2 WOTN but missed my top 3. B+

A great Richebourg in its prime and drinking perfectly. So rich and seductive, it was difficult not to keep coming back to this one. Terrific Burgundy.
