  • Owned as a monopoly by the Breuer family, these 12 hectares located to the east of the Rheingau appellation face south on a terroir. This terroir has a reputation for producing wines that are both powerful and dry.

    Still pale yellow color.

The nose is exuberant and surprisingly very young with fresh lemon and jasmine in particular. The wine, with its floral aromas, is definitely not 20 years old.

Mouth in total harmony with the nose. The attack is warm and even creamy, revealing a warm vintage with flavors of peach and acacia honey. Then the acidity takes over to balance a beautiful juice and bring tension. The transition is harmonious towards more spicy and herbaceous flavors, it is airy and rich at the same time, still very young. The wine ends with a great chalky and limestone finish at the same time, dry but elegant. Great saline length.

    Excellent Riesling!

  • Middag med venner: En lettbeint, fingradert og elegant vin, oppløst, kompleks finish (som riesling sjelden får), svært intens og lang. Mineralsk, epler og stein. Overhodet ikke årgangstypisk.

  • Breuer Schlossberg ve Nonnenberg 1996-2008 (Weingut Breuer in Rüdesheim): not blind, double decanted for 6 hours
flight withSchlossberg 05 and Schloßberg and Nonnenberg 2003. All wines very Close in Quality and suprisingly fresh for the hot years. In this flight I would prefer the Nonnenberg 03

Peppermint tea. Leaner than SB, Extract sweetness, compact, a bit closed. Yuzu in the finish. 93-94

  • Georg Breuer - Double vertical Schlossberg / Nonnenberg 1996-2008 (Weingut Georg Breuer, Rüdesheim, Germany): Glass: Stölzle White
All wines (except where noted otherwise) where double decanted about 7-10h before tasting.
Medium yellow golden color. Clean nose, a bit muted but very airy, ripe fresh lime, floral notes.
On the palate again some fresh lime notes and other ripe fruit mixed with a beautiful chalky minerality. Very concentrated and a bit creamy mouthfeel. Wonderfully balanced and quite elegant. Wonderful salty length. Has a bright and shiny future of another decade. 94-95

  • This Nonnenberg opens up with some typical attributes from a warmer vintage (which 2005 absolutely was) like ripe yellow stone fruit, ripe peach and a bit of acacia honey. Alongside you can find a kind of pastry component and woodruff. With more time in the glass the nose develops and you get more and more spices, herbs, white and yellow blossoms and mineral notes.
On the palate you can recognize the same variability. A strong stone and herbal note puts the first upfront yellow fruit in the rear. Nevertheless this 05 definitely has its round edges and the acidity is not on the super high level of other, cooler vintages. Good power and depth. A lovely speck flavor on the back end.

I really liked this wine and I think it´s still in a young stadium. Potential for another 10-15 years.
