Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • pale lemon color, when first opened an aggressive nose of beeswax with tightly coiled fruit and a mirror image on the reluctant palate, 10 hours later- refined and racy citrus plus a hint of pineapple and a persistent topnote of beeswax on the nose, on the palate very classically structured with no excesses, a very pure and persistent core of racy frut again coated in beeswax, sweet grapefruit, white grapes, tangerine, and a very attractive rich deep mango note leading into a good long finish with quite a strong acid spine well coated in semi-sweet honey notes, some good soil reflection here plus the barest hints of a finely pixelated minerality that should shine through with age, I am a fan of Robert Weil- but I especially like them in vintages such as this where there is plenty of classic structure and acidity to carry the eventual blossoming of the decadent fruit.
