Medium gold colored with a nose of honey, orange marmalade, and spice. Gobs and gobs of botrytis in this wine...the noble rot indeed. On pop and pour the wine was good, but on day 3 it has blossomed into something special. Thick and rich on the palate, with orange marmalade, spice, honey and just enough acidity to keep it from being flabby. Seems sweeter and more appropriate for dessert on day 3 -- air definitely improves this wine. Fully mature, but no rush to drink. Hard to drink more than a glass, prefer it with a good chill as the wine seems richer as it warms.
8.5% ABV. Score represents day 3.

This is still a massive botrytis bomb and hasn't really budged much compared to my tasting note 9 years ago. It's still a huge wine with an array of ripe fruit drizzled with honey, spices, orange marmalade, and bright floral notes; intensely sweet but with enough acidity to keep it well balanced. This still drinks like a Beerenauslese - totally unserviceable as a table/dinner wine, but fantastic as dessert.

Chicagoer Rieslingfeier (Chicago, IL): #15-94, 8.5% abv. From half bottle. I haven't had too many 1993s and it's my impression it's not that strong of a vintage (whatever that means). This bottle, however, was definitely strong. Put simply, this is a botrytis bomb. There's so much honey and orange and botrytis spice here it's incredible. Very sweet, to the point that the acid can't quite keep up with it; there's a bit of mineral extract that helps with that.

Stunning with a striking balance of richness and precision. Rich, smoky botryitis-laced white fruits weightlessly glide across the palate. Acidic cut is well tuned with the fruit weight. Everything is in harmony here. Silky and mouth-filling. Outstanding
