More of a savory PN than a fruity one 60/40. Savory herbs, including tarragon aroma, and currants. Some drying tannins. Med+ long finish. The overall mixed profile makes me come back for more.

Decanted, medium deposit. Initially quite closed, an hour saw briary red cherry fruit emerging. Palate similarly evolved. Red cherry, touch of red currant complemented by oak. Held by its acid. Very little tannin. Needs time. Day 2 - holding up very well. Supports my view that it needs time.

Audouze for an hour. Expressive nose with depth and concentration. (Oddly reminiscent of the '19 L'Arlot RSV.) Good flavor, although a bit lighter than the nose suggests. Limited tannins makes it very drinkable. A solid village wine no doubt at the right price.

Tasted vis-avis the 2013, and this is certainly lighter, more feminin, more en danseuse and nervous; wonderful. (The punters prefered the 13) 91++ #PensionDanmark

Coravin Tasting – both new bottles – glasses pored 1 hour before tasting (tasting objective: younger vs older pinot, North vs South of Cote d'Or, Village vs 1er Cru
2014 Domaine Alain Burguet Gevrey-Chambertin Mes Favorites Vieilles Vignes (91 points) On the nose: Abundance of red fruit in the nose, cherry and red currant. Firm rather than delicate. Spicy but limited tertiary notes such are earth or undergrowth. Balanced and inviting. On the palate: more red fruit, herbaceous, nice structure from the acidity. Alcohol not overpowering. Very limited tannins. Overall very nicely balanced, enjoyable and make you feel like you want more. Nice length to it. Overall punching above its weight for a Village wine. It is not overly complex but quite concentrated and very well made. Above all, enjoyable and certainly worth its price 45 GBP per bottle price tag. (bought in 2019)
2011 Domaine Robert Chevillon Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Roncières (91 Points) On the nose: More concentrated in the nose but also riper and more complex. An almost sweet/jammy/syrupy sensation with some leather and earthiness developing. On the palate: Not quite as sweet and syrupy as the nose might suggest. More subtle, less concentrated but more finesse and complexity. Red fruit is less pronounced, more mushroom and herbaceous. Despite more acidity and a tad more alcohol, the wine feels lighter and more delicate. Longer length but less intense. A very nice wine that is enjoyable because of its finesse, delicacy and complexity. Fairly priced at 45 GBP per bottle (bought in 2019)
Both wines are well made and represent good value for money. The Nuits St Georges is more complex but the Gevrey-Chambertin is more inviting for me (maybe because it is simpler).
