  • Roagna Barbaresco Tasting (Gemma): This probably have the most going on amongst all the bottle but still tight fisted. Like mini fireworks going on and so dense and weighty.

  • I repeat what I wrote in my latest note from 10/2021: The 2013 Crichët Pajé is a monumental Barbaresco, but at the same time it appears to have wings and the ability to fly, weightlessly and gracefully. It posseses multiple dimensions and if it had a mathematical formula it would be full of numberless vectors, each one bound to a flavor and attribute. The energy, power and structure of this wine are huge and compelling; but today not more than a promise and preview of what this wine will become. The 2013 vintage can be felt in the present muscles and vigor. Woodland berries, cherry, tobacco, light balsam, mint, potpourri and spicebox arise in the glass, ever-changing and evolving in the expression. This a towering wine and version of Crichët Pajé. Kudos!

  • The 2013 Crichët Pajé is a monumental Barbaresco, but at the same time it appears to have wings and the ability to fly, weightlessly and gracefully. It posseses multiple dimensions and if it had a mathematical formula it would be full of numberless vectors, each one bound to a flavor and attribute. The nose is explosive and huge, activates all senses with scents of exotic flowers, lingonberry and earth tones. The combination of sensuality & grace with the typical 2013 brawn and the towering structure here is just unreal. The bouquet on the palate needs time to open up, but finds the connection to the tannic spine in the background effortlessly. Woodland berries, red cherry, lingonberry, rose petal, garden herbs, a mild balsamic infusion and sweet pipe tobacco fuse with a whiff of a fresh potpourri & musk. An omnipresent minerality lingers in the background and provides extra nuances. Impossible not to fall in love with this wine, as it happens with every vintage I tasted, now also the 2013.
