  • Another bottle with some age that was not built for age. Medium maroon. Nose has a bit of barnyard whiff, but that dissapates with time. Still nice fruit: cherry, plum, ripe raspberry, ripe strawberry. What is missing is backbone. Very soft at this age.

  • Found a couple of these under other bottles, almost forgot about them. I did see that I drank one of the three laid down, and forgot to mention it here. Aroma really opened up after about an hour or so, was rather thin at first. The scent is an integrated blend of floral and fruit, and the taste is solid Pinot Noir. Good Oregon funk, with tannins having faded away. Long finish of cherries with a hint of peppercorns. I saw that WS said to drink by 2012, but this is tasting quite nice. My original intention on opening this bottle was to drink the third and final one this year, and while that may happen, I still think this has enough acid to stay at it's peak throughout 2014. Maybe beyond, who knows? At the price I paid, ($18) I wish I had laid down more.

  • Pop and pour. Medium to dark maroon color with signs of bricking on the rim. Very viscous legs. Smokey nose (sadly, with the faintest sour vinegar scent lurking in the background) with vanilla, rhubarb and plums intermixed. Initial palate echos the smokey nose. Big fruit (typical '06 meaty, beaty, big and bouncy), thankfully the vinegar doesn't carry through to the palate. Full-bodied, linear, one-dimensional.
Back in the swingin' '70's a company named General Brewing Company made a generic beer (it was a plain white can with black letters spelling beer). You old timers will remember. Anyway, this bottle reminds me of generic red wine (not even Pinot Noir, just red wine). Don't get me wrong, it's clean and frisky, but it lacks any personality or character.

  • Found one bottle hiding in the far corner of the cellar. Not sure where it came from, but looked like it needed to be consumed. Darker color than expected; a nice ruby. Lighter and more open nose of cherry, tea, spice, and just a hint of gaminess. Lighter in the palate than the color would suggest, open and airy, with the same array of flavors as on the nose. Medium finish.

  • Mineral, then currants, then leather, then chalk. Tobacco on the nose.
