  • Pinot tasting (EBCC): Double decanted off its sediment - a considerably easy task given that this bottle had been standing for at least a couple of years - and poured during the tasting about thirty minutes later. Aromas of forest floor, red fruit, earth and mushroom. Flavors of black cherry, baking spice mushroom and cardamom. This held on and drank very well for nearly an hour before it started to fade.

  • Our penultimate bottle, popped and poured. Notes of black tea leaf, bouillon and forest floor. There's a hint of red fruit, but it's subtle. Has a bit more weight on the palate than I was expecting. Black cherry, tea leaf and Asian spice on the palate. Medium finish. Let's see if the bouquet improves as this breathes. Doesn't change much over a couple of hours and the bouillon note gets a bit stronger. Still has nice fruit on the palate though and worked well enough with a selection of cheeses.

  • Fantastic fruit, reasonable depth and complexity, this is an amazing value- it was even better the third day open. Wow!

  • Pop and pour. Medium ruby color. Viscous legs. The initial nose has a medicinal/iodine quality that is reminiscent of a nice Burgundy. Initial palate is very bright and expressive - the Burgundian comparisons end here, the palate is pure Willamette Valley fresh fruit (mostly strawberries and a little cherry) and warm loam. Nice, unobtrusive acidic spine adds interest and contrast. Good ripe fruit, but this isn't as big and hot as a lot of '06's I've drank. Back end is a little pedestrian, but hey, it's a basic Willamette Valley from a big house. All-in-all clean, well-made, enjoyable. Nice bottle, and it's in a nice place right now.

  • Blind pinot tasting with 12 other 2006 Oregon Pinot's. You could tell this was an entry level wine, as it was simple, not a lot of depth, but that is not a criticism. This is a very good wine, and as far as QPR this was the WOTN.
