Yum, this is really good and while it's a big wine, it's more on the subtle end of the Zin spectrum. We're fans of Limerick Lane, so we're well aware that Scot Bilbro can make excellent wine. When he focused full-time on Marietta, we expected them to up their game and this wine reflects that expectation. It has that brambly fruit and spiciness we expect from a Zin, but it's aged in neutral barrels so the oak influence is mild. It's mostly Zin, with small amounts of Petite Sirah and Syrah. The fruit comes from the Angeli Ranch, which is basically Marietta's home estate near Geyserville, on the west side of Alexander Valley. I will say, that while very enjoyable now, I think 5-10 years will add a layer of complexity to this wine. But, I bought it to drink now!

A deeper more layer version of Roman is the idea. More intensity but not any more. Weight. Has a bit of a cherry note to the nose. Slate and a touch of pencil lead. Really nicely balanced. And fresh, if very ripe to it. Even a touch hard on the back with tannic structure in a good way.

Mediocre, especially considering the price.

Cherry/strawberry/raspberry jam nose with choco-vanilla notes. Tannins are distinct and angular against the fruit of the palate; woodsy finish.
