Italian evening at Nick's (Chez Nick): Perhaps a bit more on the sweet spectrum than the Felsina, with elements of orange bitters or Angostura, but still quite a very long way from what I have in mind when I think of dessert wine. Alongside the Felsina very different in character, less evolved and perhaps easier going. A good finish with the Cannoli.

Ferragosto feast! (Chez Nick): Half. Made quite the impact, with its interesting combination of marmalade and toffee with distinct salinity. Bright and linear on the palate, and a strong note of orange on the finish. I really enjoyed this, but it wasn't as clasically rich as the Felsina and divided the table more than its flight-mate.

Nick’s Festa di Ferragosto; 8/16/2023-8/17/2023: Well this was interesting. Nose of butterscotch, saffron, and saline. On the palate bitter orange, and a savoury fino esque finish. Quite unusual for what I’d expect from a Vin Santo but not without its charms.

Niccolo's Ferragosto Feast (Chez Nick): Not a style of Vin Santo I’m used to: somebody mentioned fino and I get it - there’s a blunt, oxidative, nutty character here. It’s light in colour, quite understated and transparent on the palate. I prefer dessert wines to deliver pleasure first and foremost and this was more cerebral than hedonistic.
