No formal note. Cork broke in half, level was into shoulder Good mature southern provencal wine, but no ´grand frisson’ here. Perfect as a weeknight wine to accompany dinner.

When I bought this bottle, I was told by the merchant that it had "exotic" aromas and would be great with game. That was about five years ago so I might have missed the peak time of its aromatics, but I don't remember them as much as the unusual balance and sophistication of this Bandol. It's less powerful than a contemporary from Tempier or Gros Nore, and the years may have softened it too, but what comes through is an amazing spiciness (Asian spices, pepper), wonderful red plum and berry flavors, and a strong earthiness, maybe even skunkiness. But in a good way! I obliged by serving it with venison and it was a great match.
