  • Through the Heart of France; 11/17/2013-11/25/2013 (Centre, Aubrac, Languedoc and Paris): Medium red, browning edge. Gamy, pungent black fruit. Volnay weight but very sturdy feel due to a raspy tannic finish. Not at all charming or flattering. I'm afraid that the rough, tannic character of the vintage plus the lean Angerville style are not a great recipe for this slightly lesser cuvée. OK but not a great success.

  • Muted nose of red currants and not much else. Only a little fruit to go with the acid and the little bit of lingering tannins. Finish, what? The cork smelled like TCA to me, but I didn't pick up any tell-tale scents in the wine. It's stripped character leads me to think this had just enough taint to rob it of most of the fruit though. Disappointing.

  • Yowsa. Gorgeous, pure, Ranier cherry, barest note of toast, black pepper aromas. Striking profile with a rapier thrust of fine tannins and crisp acidity on a base of red currants. This is fine and crisp and definately not unctious. The tannins and crisp acidity carry right through the long finish. Seems as though D'angerville did everything they could with a year of firm fruit and limited ripeness. It's a really nice wine. I believe this will only lose it's edge as it's fruit fades. Drink now.
