Pale, almost brown in colour with that gloriously sweet Ponsot fruit wrapped in autumnal mist and earth. Resplendent with grouse. A truly excellent village wine. ****

PnP. Colour was light red with brown edges. Nose was of sous bois, earth, mushrooms with sweet red fruit. Palate had very subtle fruit with earthy tones and smooth, well integrated acidity. Finish was moderately long. Elegant Wine.

Burgundy WIMPS 2012 'Charles the Fat' table (The Ledbury, London): Faded, slightly dull mid garnet to an almost brown rim. Earthy, slightly sewery nose. Gloriously sweet fruit on the attack. Quite full, not especially complex or long but very satisfying. Not quite the depth or length of its companions but very satisfying. ***1/2

(Ponsot Morey St.Denis Cuvée des Grives) Surprisingly light colour, a pale-medium ruby. The nose starts with a big waft of oak, quickly replaced by sweet, stewing red fruits. The palate is still quite oaky, but shows good acidity, some fat and a persistent finish. The tannins are still a little grainy. Despite the colour I rather like this and I'd still be tempted to wait another 2 years for this wine.

Pale. Light garnet at best. Nicely mature nose with sous-bois, leather and a touch of fireside. Floaty and ethereal. Lovely. ***1/2
