The late great Josh Raynolds wrote of this wine “it shows the minerality, spiciness and vibrancy of a wine from further north. Much further north as in Burgundy”. On point with this observation. Fascinating and another stellar wine from G. Gilles. I’m in strong agreement on the Burg comparison, less so on the nose which just soared with sandlewood, white pepper and other savory scents, very N. Rhone. But the palate was just stacked with bright red cherry fruit and the acidity just exploded (in a good way) across the palate. The 2nd glass (bottle had opened but not decanted for 4 hrs.) saw more cohesion, a touch softer perhaps, very tactile and precise. From high altitude and it clearly shows. $60 - a steal for a wine of this caliber.
