Mostly Giacosa dinner (RPM Italian, Washington D.C.): Almost opaque. Expressive very modern nose, cabernet dust, ink, crème de cassis, vanilla/oak, liquid smoke, exotic incense, dark caramel, rose and earth. The oak expression dominates. Exceptional concentration, layers upon layers of concentrated black fruit, unctuous and incredibly rich, bright acidity, strong mineral, and a long concentrated black fruit driven finish with ink and caramel at the end. The exotic fruit expression reminds me the Caberlot but this is 1000 times more modern and oaky. Interesting wine. I don't think I can drink more than a glass.

(MIANI Calvari) Miani Dear Friends, There’s not much to say with this offer except these are probably the rarest wines in the world and they command prices justifiable with their rarity and quality. Even more difficult to get than something like 2005 Roumier Musigny, If you will not settle for anything less than the very best and most individual expressions of their type, this is for you - only 5 cases of each wine for the entire US (yes, that’s 60 bottles - including Per Se, etc). We’ve already discussed the potential longevity of the 2006 vintage in Austria, Friuli and Alto Adige and this set of whites is . The Miani stable is the highest scoring set of red and white wines from a single producer ever reviewed by Antonio Galloni (including anything from Piedmont). All reviews are from yesterday’s Wine Advocate: 2003 Miani Calvari Refosco (750ml) 2006 Miani Ribolla Gialla 2006 Miani Sauvignon Blanc 2006 Miani Tocai Please note: We offered the 2004 Merlot Buri a few months ago, that is sold out. Still too young. Powerful nose of spices, licorice, blackberry, tobacco.
