My first experience with refosco. Needed an hour in the decanter to open up. Very plush and round tannins. Loads of black fruit. Some olive and a nice mineral spine. Reminded me of a Cab Franc from the loire. Really a very nice wine but the way prices have sky-rocketed I won't be loading up the truck. As I have no other experience with this wine/grape I would be curious to see how this develops with more bottle age.

Big Boy Bordeaux Spring Dinner (Morton's Northbrook): A unique wine that is clearly very well made and impressive, yet perhaps a bit of an acquired taste. Aromas of licorice, sweet black fruits, toast, and scorched earth. A big momma as everything while amazingly in balance is turned up on high. Bold concentrated sweet black fruits accompany a huge structure of acid and tannin packing real punch. Somewhat reminiscent of a Del Forno amarone from a top vintage. Thanks Jeff!
