  • Unlike other reviewers, I don't feel my bottle really needed much of a decant.. it was pretty open from the start, with a strong, vivid fresh watermelon note, in addition to cherry and and some florals. No off flavors of any sort. Good acidity in the finish. Very enjoyable.

  • Decanted a portion with stir and it opened after about 30-60 min. Vacuvin’d the rest and similar time needed on day 2 and 3. Deep salmon and medium pink color. Strawberry, herb, mineral on the nose. Agree with other notes that was very off and strange chlorine at first until opens. Watermelon Jolly Rancher, hint of cherry, white pepper with about 30-33 sec finish. I felt that it needed more fruit. Acidity was not strong enough at first and then presented itself after opening. This does need decant but in my limited experience I prefer other Tavel options

  • On the nose: Slate, herbs, strawberries.

On the palate: Strawberry, cream, white-cake, herbs.

On the finish: Slightly bitter, strawberry.

There was something odd about this bottle that I can’t quite put my finger on. All the expected flavors are present, but over all of it something is off. There is a taste of maybe vomit or chlorine. It doesn’t fit the usual descriptions of TCA taint, so I’m not sure if this flavor is a natural part of the wine’s flavor, or some other kind of fault.

    Edit:
Returning to the wine on a second day: the off flavor, though still quite present on the nose, has almost entirely disappeared on the palate. The wine was quite enjoyable today with some cheese and crackers.

  • Deep pink. Maraschino cherries and white floral on the nose.
In the mouth, lime and cherry fruit, loud and round acidity on entry. Crushed herb and streaky green, with tight grip and astringency in the mid, opening into tightly wound salt. High acidity and mineral pushes through a long, linear finish. This was good but somehow disappointing simultaneously. The acidity and tannin are out of balance for what this is, and I think the astringency makes it slightly too intense, and too "loud."

  • Deep pink color; strawberries, pomegranate, and hibiscus on the nose; medium plus acidity; tastes like tropical jolly ranchers, cranberries, and slate. Nellie says it's meh. Leo likes it!
