  • Crazy how wines can change so quickly. This vintage appears to be an awkward phase now. Really ripe fruit upfront and rather light/somewhat hollow mid-palate plus the finish was lacking. Some improvement over three days but never fully came around. I’ll refrain from rating this bottle because it’s not in the best place right now. Although maybe an off-bottle but I don’t believe so.

  • Dark ruby fruit - currants, blackberry, dark cherry, and a little blueberry. Smooth mid-palate with a nice purity and solid depth/concentration. Nice rich flavors of cassis, baking spices, cocoa/chocolate, and a little graphite component. Fairly long finish. Popped/poured but drank out of a decanter for a couple hours. A little improvement with time but drinking quite well right away despite its youth. Drank next to the 2019 vintage and 2020 Lewis Mason’s cab. I would give an edge to the 2020 Lewis cab - a little more depth/concentration. However, all three were quite enjoyable. 100% cab.

  • Similar thoughts as the last bottle earlier in the year. Another nice vintage of this wine which I didn’t expect in light of all the questions/concerns in regards to the vintage. Dark ruby fruit - blackberry, currants, and dark cherry. Smooth mid-palate with a nice purity and solid depth/concentration. Nice vibrant/expressive flavors of cassis, baking spices, and cocoa/mocha. Fairly long finish. Popped/poured but drank out of a decanter over a couple hours. Improved a little with time but drinking quite well right away. Some of my favorite cabs for the money were their 2018 & 2019 vintages priced in the mid-$80s. However, once again, a shame with the price increase for this vintage. 100% cab.

  • Being really selective with this vintage. I’ve only had some of Mike Smith’s 2020 entry level cabs so far which are fantastic. Another pleasant surprise with the 2020 Lewis cab. Dark ruby fruit - currants, blackberry, and dark cherry. Smooth mid-palate with a nice purity and solid depth/concentration. Nice flavors of cocoa, cassis, black tea, some spice/licorice, and a little graphite component. Fairly long finish. Decanted for two hours and drank over a couple more. Not much improvement with time but at a nice drinking point despite its youth. Of all vintages, somewhat surprising that the Winery decided to increase the price to $120. 93/94 for me at this youthful stage.
