Sadly I don’t think 2008 is a good Napa vintage for me. I say sadly because it is my youngest daughter’s birth year. This wine still had plenty of structure and fruit, but not much complexity. It suffered by following the Verite and also had no decant time (which, given my CT handle is sacreligious for me). But there was a cool story about this wine, given directly by Randy Lewis to our friend who brought it to dinner. And there were some colorful stories associated. That made it fun to drink.
Lab BBQ. Last bottle of this, and it was the best one I can remember. This wine has always been a bit over the top for our palates, but this bottle paired very nicely with a ribeye steak and was not overpowering. Drinking very well at this point in its lifespan. Still not my favored style but appreciated it for what it is

Similar notes from 9/16/19. Took 2+ hours to settle down in a decanter. Full throttle, in your face rich Bing cherry flavors but with high alcohol which IMHO distracts from the enjoyment; I used to love this style but these days I'm leaning toward the lower alcohol (and lower sugar), more nuanced style of Cali cab.

(Lewis Cellars Napa Cabernet Sauvignon) #1; COLOR-dark; NOSE-big fruit; very focused dark fruit (plum); a little cedar; nice nose; very focused; integrated; a little kirsch component; PALATE-this is so well made; so balanced and so structured; big fruit; this is a MASSIVE Cabernet; this is a throwback vintages ('91 & '95); this wine is SINGING to me; this wine is SPECTACULAR and one of the better wines we had this year on WLTV; the nose is continuing to open up -- very candied and very fruity, but not overbearing and gloppy; very focused on the palate; SPECTACULAR; this is 15.5% and holds it together tremendously; great flavor and great structure; you should seek this wine out; this wine is drinking shockingly well right now, but will age well over the next 2 decades; WS-93; GV-95

EAB dinner. Some people really liked this but the style is too brutish for my palate these days.

In my previous tasting note a couple of years ago I gave this wine an outstanding 95 rating. It’s even better now. A great Cab. Delicious.
