Ruby. Cherry, plum, some earthiness to it. High tannins, high acidity. Went great with lasagna and pizza, but needs food at this stage of it's life. Medium finish.

13.5% alcohol; Tri-Vin Imports, New Rochelle, New York; medium to heavy weight foil; composite cork, maximum of 2 mm wine seepage, cork aroma of sour cherries, rye bread; medium to long legs, very dark red; opened, oxygenation hastened via Vinturi, tasted 30 minutes later at room temperature -- 23 degrees C; nose of sour cherries, alcohol, citrus; medium to full bodied, fruit and alcohol forward, sour/sweet cherries and cassis, wood surround, minerals in the background; medium finish; sweetness, well integrated, lasts to the very end; cries out for good quality beef steak, charcoal or gas grilled, smoked with pecan or mesquite; this wine, from Basilicata in southernmost mainland Italy, is very different from the more northerly Italian wines we're accustomed to; it could grow on you fast

Very tasty immediately after opening, but got better as it aerated. Strong notes of black raspberry, cherry, minerality, graphite, and vanilla cake.
Wine was medium bodied, and acidity was medium but also restrained to where none of us felt like we were getting heartburn. This was very enjoyable and has aging potential for up to 5-10 years I’d say. Went extremely well with authentic Italian food, and a good value even at the $20 I paid.
