I'm far from a Barolo expert, but this didn't strike me as overly modern (aside from the color, which was darker, with less bricking, than I would have expected). Traditional profile, still very tannic, but delicious and aromatic nonetheless. I think this has at least another 5 years ahead of it, probably more. Tasty.

So wonderful. Nose of Cherry both red and black, cedar, anise. Palate is fruit forward with great tannic backbone. The acidity and tannins go to war in palate. Bergamot, blood orange bitters, and fine grained tannins in the finish. Very good at this age.

Dark cherry translucent hues with medium intense aromatic expressions of black tea leaves, red ripe cherry, rose petals, and smokey mineral tones. A softer feminine approach on the palate with good balance of acid and firm well structured tannins. A complex palate with notes of toasted vanilla, sour cherry, and tar. Medium length finish with black tea and tar clinging with the tannins. Overall, a solid Barolo.

Mahogany/ruby, bricking at the edges. Alluring bouquet of red and black fruit, cola, hibiscus, orange citrus, herbs, and an underlying, dry, smoky persistence. Mid-bodied, balanced, with fine-grained tannins, good depth, density, and clarity, climaxing into a cherry-driven finish that lasts. Attractive.

Somewhat modern in its palate staining-ness, but I like the rustiness of the fruit and the directness.
