While very much drinkable now, it works be far better with aging. I like my Syrah less ripe and more terroir driven, which this will likely evolve over time into that.
On its face, a great potential wine. 100% Coombsville fruit, so not Keenan Estate fruit.
Color is dark red, though not quite purple
Nose is dark cherry, blackberry, floral and herbal tones. Earth & herbs/floral Very similar to what a good northern Rhône or Washington state wine would smell like.
Taste is ripe red fruit (cherry), maybe a little blackberry? Very fruit driven up front, with a pepper and eucalyptus finish.
I think this wine will evolve into a stunner in another 5-7 years, just needs time. And with the acidity, it can easily go 15 years or more.
Next bottle will be reviewed closer to the 10 year mark.
