Wine Spectator Grand Tour (Las Vegas, NV): Mont-Redon's 2021 Châteauneuf is a deep ruby blend of 60% Grenache, 32% Syrah and 6% Mourvèdre, with the remaining 2% comprised of other permitted varietals. Offering aromas and flavors of dark bramble fruits, garrigue, tobacco, allspice and black pepper, it is a medium-to-full-bodied, fresh red with well-integrated alcohol (15%) and wood. At this early stage, the wine's rustic tannins are front-and-center, dominating the mid-palate and lengthy finish. Give this 2-3 years in the cellar if possible, at which time it may merit a higher score. Drink 2026-2036.

The nose opens with olives, garrigue, flowers and red fruits. Medium-bodied, forward, chewy, and with an herbal edge to the peppery fruit on the palate and in the finish. The blend is 60% Grenache, 32% Syrah, 6% Mourvedre, and various other allowable grape varieties. Drink from 2024-2031.

This is “OK”, but far below what I’d expect from this winery. It’s clearly a victim of the poor vintage.
