  Lighter than usual Altamont Pinot from Dehlinger. Soft cherry flavor upfront on the nose and palatte but not a very solid structure with mild tannins and acidity. 2020 was a tough year and this wine exemplfies the result of fires in the area.

  Dehlinger's 2020 Altamont Pinot is a deep ruby, seductively aromatic wine that is effusive of Morello cherries, orange zest, red licorice, graham cracker spice, cocoa and black tea on both the nose and palate. Medium-bodied, fresh, proportionately oaked and without intrusive alcohol (listed as 14.5%), it wraps its flavors with plentiful silky-textured tannins and stays dense on the mid-palate. Finishing long and smooth, it is a joy to drink. This is a major success for the vintage and should continue to provide enjoyment throughout the remainder of this decade. Tasted from a bottle that was popped and poured, benefitting from the first hour of air. Drink now-2030.
