  • Oddero rules, and their wines seem to get better and better every year. This Barbaresco is classically austere, yet at the same time finessed and elegant with gorgeous pure cherry fruit. Accents of licorice, roses and alpine breeze, a little baking spice and tobacco too. Long and tense finish, this is not quite ready, it needs a few years, and a nice meal.

  • tiny production, 14 months in cask & 1 year bottle. Amazing. Great texture and long length. Such pure fruit

  • Piemonte Visit ... end of summer 2023; 8/23/2023-9/25/2023 (Piemonte Alba area): Gave it 91/92 just like the Nebbiolo, but it really shows more concentration and length, so I downgraded the Nebbiolo :)

Nose of floral crimson flowers, the nose is "crimson" to me if it makes any sense to anybody IDK ? balsamic, dry oak, oyster, mint eucalypt, all th register... It's crazy how lately and during this trip most Barbes smelled like mint and eucalypt to me, when Barolo were more on the fruit side... and floral... anyways, it's an exquisite and complex nose

Palate is tight with high level of grippy and sharp tannins. Quite warm, high alcohol for sure, but not overwhelming and will surely integrate, but what makes the mark is the subtlety within the power and the length, it is outrageously long and freshly vibrant. Really great wine, but leave it 5 at least years, it'll come together perfectly at around 10/12 like the 2009 we had in 2022 I m pretty sure about that.

I might give it a 93ish along the way

  • This wine is exceedingly pure with peach blossom aromas, red cherry flavors and hints of vanilla and tar, a medium-weight body, a silky texture, and round tannins. I’m sure it’ll be even better in 5-10 years, but it’s already impossible to resist.

  • bright light young red color, at opening the nose was a dazzling sea of wild strawberries, on the palate tense and reluctant but with fine depth evident, pine and tar, and then it shut down, 2 days later- alluring nose of flower petals, cherry and pine, on the palate a voluptuous fruit on the mid-palate with racy edges leading into a long and savory finish, the scale here makes it drinkable now after extended airing but in terms of nuance this is even more restrained than the 2020 Oddero Barolo tasted a few days ago, cherries, black raspberries, mineral waves, tar and the very beginnings of bramble, as at opening wonderfully taut and restrained to keep the almost punchy fruit in check, a classic beauty that should evolve quite nicely.
