  • At Davyd's. Poured into decanter and drank over 2 hours.
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, garnet colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of earth, chocolate, licorice, leather, red cherries, and slight mushroom. Developed.
On the palate, dry, medium+ acidity, high alcohol, integrated soft high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of ripe red cherries, slight dark red plum, chocolate, licorice, baby powder, earth. Some sweet black tea leaves with more air. Medium+ finish.
Very good quality. Lots of tertiary notes showing up already. Drinking well now. Unlikely to improve further. Enjoy and drink up over next 3-4 years.
    100% Sangiovese.

  • Overripe style Sangiovese...Amarone style. Shows leather, tobacco, chocolate, cooked cherry/plum, with some earth. Nice but a bit unbalanced and does not make you wanna drink more than a glass.

  • Argiano tasting (Wine What Else): 100% Sangiovese. Very modern nose, I got corned beef at first, before the wine resolved into scents of beef, pepper, oaky vanilla and boiled tomatoes along with little red and black fruits underlying the meatiness. Interesting. The palate was rather sweet. Again, modernly styled, with the same sweet fruits, I got super-ripe cherries here, together with vanilla and butterscotch tinted oak and some pepper, all undergirded with decent freshness and finely built tannins. Lots of stuffing here. The wine was also focused well delineated, but I felt that it was a little narrow, with the flavours concentrated in beam in the middle of the mouth from the attack to the long, lingering finish which showed fresh tomato-ey acid and a touch of minty eucalyptus. Nice, and rather Brunello de Montalcino like.
