Italian Night in Jax (La Cena): Hello old friend. It’s been some time since we had a Suolo because we’re trying to get them to age a bit more but fun to check in on it. Still quite a good Sangiovese. Still young. There’s a structure and style to this wine that I always enjoy.

I think this probably needs a lot more time. It's still young and the oak is still kindof there and it comes across as a bit big and bold for me. It's a really nice wine though and one that I really enjoy. Sad to have seen it switch from this form to a more classic Brunello Riserva. Looking forward to aging the rest of these for quite some time.

A night of fantastic Italian wine (including Solaia, Tiganello, Sassicaia, Suolo) and I didn't take detailed notes. This was a lovely wine, but a bit overshadowed by the '03 which seemed to be in a better place than the '01 that night. We pnp'ed and that seemed to work pretty well.

Wow! A friend brought this wine last night and I was surprised when I learned that it was 100% sangiovese..! The smell and taste were more like a Bordeaux blend...Guess I need to drink more...! Decanted the wine for 25mn (wasn't enough I guess but...) and had it with a truffle risotto. Smell is very nice and powerful with plenty a ripe berries. Ripe and smooth tannins with your mouth full of raspberry and blackberry. Long finish. Maybe just a very little bit too oaky for me (not enough decanting or too young?). Specially after a little time in the glass. But overall a great great wine!

100% Sangiovese grape. Notes of liquorice, spices, pepper with dark black grapes. Medium+ acidity and medium+ tannin.
