Terroir-istes International - Australia-Penfolds Mini Verticals (Klein Constantia): (Tasted Blind): Mid-red wine with a garnet hue and mahogany rim indicates its apparent age. The nose reveals umami, dried earth and savoury, reminiscent of marmite, with further aromas of shoe polish, dry spices, leather, liquorice bark, and medicinal tones. The palate starts leathery and dry, imbued with marmite, Bovril, and brown Windsor soup! It is a decent but not exceptional wine, showing its age and past its peak. Firm and sinewy tannins are starting to dry out. It finishes long and with a crisp acidity but a little muddy with balsamic and soy sauce.

Opened a bit stinky but cleaned up with airing. Plum, mulberry, mint, pepper, and cinnamon. Retains some fruit sweetness along with a lingering cinnamon flavour. Tannins fully resolved.
Opinion: No need to keep longer. Started to fall over after 2 hours in the decanter.

Finishes nicely, for being so far past it's drink-by date. Smooth.

Drinking really very well, tannins very refined and smooth, lovely fruit which still has a good core of richness. Excellent.
