  • This is the note from the second night. The wine was much better integrated, the midpalate expanded and the fruit, while still on the red end of the spectrum, got much darker. I think this wine will be better in 4 or 5 years.

  • The rating is based on where it is right now, I think it will get better, I had a few bottles and decided to establish a reference point. Though it is pleasant and somewhat light on its feet, I think it’s still a bit early for this wine. There is some spice and earth but also a little saline (not that it’s an unpleasant quality). It tastes more like a Beaune premier cru at this stage, which is not uncommon for Vougeots but the Arnoux grapes come from a solid plot in the middle of the hill and generally produce a solid, if unspectacular, wine. This one is a little short, but there is some concentrated depth in the midpalate that I believe will lengthen out and gain complexity in time. I saved about a third of the bottle for day two and will provide another note as I think that will reveal more about its future. Today I would say hold another 3-4 years before trying it again.
