  • This remains a very sturdy wine. First nose shows some obvious wood. But then good red and black fruits. In terms of the more masculine traits typical of a Clos Vougeot, this has them. (We had this alongside a 2010 Hudelot Noellat Clos Vougeot, which was a striking contrast with that wine showing much more development, elegance and femininity). In the last 10 years this 2008 wine has aged quite slowly. But at present the structural elements seem destined to last longer than the fruit...maybe. The wine did develop some in the glass over the course of a few hours - it was better later in the day. I have other bottles, and I'm going to gamble on leaving them alone for another 5 years to see what we have then.

  • Easy drinking bottle that is balance and pure with the aromas of red fruit and violet.
I would expect more on this price.
Good wine but just can’t match with it’s price tag.

  • Dark fruit and violet nose. Full bodied raspberry flavors. Arnoux-Lachaux's 2008 Clos Vougeot has shed its earlier formidable structure and has found reasonable balance. Very good.

  • Nice enough burg.

  • More closed than the last bottle I enjoyed. Still a big-scaled wine with ample dark fruits (leaning to the blacker side), but not overripe at all. And good tannin and acidity ensure this a long life. The structural elements dominate right now, giving this wine a "lean" impression; however, I don't think this wine is lean at all. I think the fruit is there - just subsumed by the wine's substantial tannin and acid at the moment.
