Straight from the bottle. Viscous, Healthy fruitiness-red berries, not overpowering, smooth and no tanins, should develop over next 5 years but very pleasant now

Rich smoky fruit on the nose. Not as heavy as some on the palate. Reminds me of other young, well-balanced Shiraz that require a few years to integrate and add some weight. Long finish. Probably has an opportunity for an improved score with some time in the cellar.

A Variety of Wines from S. Africa, CA, Australia, Germany (Mandarin Oriental, NYC): Epicurean Wines was particularly helpful in explaining the details of how the 140 year old vines were less susceptible to extreme weather variation becasue the roots are further entrenched. They were moved after the land was sold to a real estate developer. This was tasty, but the history lesson was better. $50/60 at retail.
