  • Lovely red fruit, bracing acidity. Goes very well with wood-fired pizza. Just a hint of oxidation though, so drink up!

  • Ikke samme intensiteten som før. De var ikke noe bedre en viner som koster 100kr mindre.

  • Nice, complex; perhaps slightly oxidized. Off bottle or signs of age?

  • For lack of a better term I kept thinking while drinking this is a "barrel-chested barbera." I don't know what the oak treatment is here, but from the pour it announces itself as more substantial than a casual barbera encounter, and lives up to the impression throughout. Bartolo is a quintessentially traditional producer of barolo, so perhaps this gets similar handling in large botti? Anyway, it's got heady primary aromas of dark red fruit and anise, laced with an appealing leather. For some freaky reason it reminds me of a wallet you would have made in summer camp. The fruit is deep, almost brooding and very enticing, cozying up to the 14% alcohol without being the least bit out of balance. Sharply etched acidity rounds out the picture. Great with food and a great barbera, skillfully defining the outer limits of what you can do with ripe barbera fruit masterfully handled. Left a third of a bottle in the fridge for three days and it was every bit as good as first pour.

  • Deep, dark, brooding, plum-purple. Gloriously seductive and silky nose of black cherries, spiced plums, and orange peel. Tar, rose petal and liquorice notes reminiscent of Nebbiolo. Just as seductive on the palate, and dangerously drinkable, but with imposing structure too. Sweet fruit absolutely in harmony with the juicy acidity and a hint of sloe-like bitterness underneath; impressively long finish. Just a magnificent Barbera!
