This wine was in great shape. Wine into the neck. Lovely deep red with no signs of bricking. Good nose of red raspberries, vanilla, and oak. Lots of acid here at first. Mellowed with a couple hours revealing lovely raspberry fruits and a little bit of pepper and bramble. Restrained with a medium length finish. Very nice and a great deal at $28.

Brickish in color, showing age. Started with this wine (the oldest in the blind tasting). The wine was over the top, but hadn’t fallen apart. Notes of green pepper and spice, over red currant fruit notes. Medium bodied, with plenty of acidity, but the fruit was definitely fading.

I don't know why I spent the money for this bottle, because it was flat and unimpressive tonight. One dimensional flavor of sour cherries, plum, and too much alcohol. Nice try Hess.

Drank as a part of a 97 horizontal. Not quite as refined as the 97 BV Clone 4, but excellent nonetheless. Almost sweet on the forepalate, showing mountain fruit, and some terroir, unlike most Napa cabs, with hints of earth and mineral. Finish was long, wine was excellent.
