  • Sweet strawberry and earth on the nose. Absolutely delicious and easy drinking. Not to say it lacks complexity, it just has such delicious fruit and integrated tannins that it goes down very easy. Dried strawberries, a touch of cherry lead the palate with earth, dried flowers and leather. Seems to have the stuff to last a few more years, but no reason to wait as it is unlikely to improve.

  • Delicately but forcefully aromatic. On the palate, medium in weight, with a nice balance of fruit and acidity. Nicely evolved. Relatively light/transparent in terms of color. My only bottle. If I had more, I'd probably drink over the next year or two.

  • I like the 06 more but still a very good wine.

  • I agree with other tasters, a light, feminine wine that should appeal to fans of Burgundy and traditional Rioja, but it is very much its own thing. Perfectly balanced, smooth, interesting, beautiful, and well priced.

  • Tuesday Night Double Blind $30+ (Bin 75): Resolved color, translucent, orangey rim; some Burgundian stank though the sandiness, rose, strawberry, cherry, cranberry, and slight orange oil scream pure Sangiovese; rich and voluptuous on the palate, sweet and sappy, no hard edges, oozes nobility; utterly sexy; mirrors great Burgundy in every way; has the midpalate and stuffing to go at least 10 more years...and it's only getting better; I cannot understand why others don't appreciate this more- good wine is good wine and I don't care that it is Rosso, this "Rosso" destroys 90% of the Brunellos out there (probably more like 98% because there's so much crap Brunello that I just don't hear about). Called '05 Brunello. 93+ If that is not a ringing endorsement then I don't know what is. Hopefully this estate makes wines half as good under the new ownership.
