  • Excellent showing. Ripe green fruit, good minerality, plenty of concentration and length. Certainly drinks well now but doesn't taste mature.

  • In great shape. Not even a hint of oxidation at this stage. Still quite mineral. Fruit was there but tart. Some florality. A linear, acid-driven wine to be sure. Did take a little time to fully open up but definitely singing. Excited to try these in a couple more years.

  • Pale colour.
Fullbodied, structured, elegant and Long. Perfect - almost great - Riesling after more than eight years of aging.

Very versatile in food pairing: Mussels as well as modern oder traditional and rather rustic food from Pork or Calf (like Baeckeofa (Backeskrumbeere), Choucroute Garni (Sauerkraut mit Schlachtplatte), Pfälzer Läberworschd (Pate de campagne a la palatinat), Saumagen (stuffed pork stomach a la palatinat), Tafelspitz, Wiener Schnitzel, Züricher Kalbsgeschnetzeltes, gebratene Maultaschen (fried "big Tortellini" with a very savoury meat, sausage, leak and spinach filling) etc.

  • Wow this is in great shape. Incredibly direct, laser-like acidity and a great balance between complex mature notes and youthful energy. Initially seems extremely concentrated but the finish falls off a bit, I guess this is a factor of young vines. Makes me very very optimistic for the ageing of the GG wines.

  • Is this a bit tired? Or just needed some more time to open up? I will never know it because we drank the wine in less than 45 minutes with a good plate of charcuterie. Last glass was the best one so I think that maybe it just needs air. There is some reduction on the nose, which then opens to yellow fruit and some minty notes. On the mouth the balance is great, with sweetness, acidity, good width and length. Maybe it lacks a bit of complexity, but it is only Von der Fels after all.

(Keller Von der Fels) Just a brilliant wine. It is young vine fruit from Hubacker and Kirchspiel and is wonderful. Mineral, cereal-like nose with very pure floral aspects. Also a hint of pine resin. High-tones aromatics that just penetrated the inner reaches of your nostrils. The palate was very concentrated, pure and clean with great fruit and powdery tannin. I remember drinking the '01 of this for $15.00. Oh how things have changed.
