Dinner at Dibbs's: Not a region that I am familiar with, this was a modern wine that did not come across as spoofy. A Bordeaux nose of tobacco and cassis, but on the palate it was a little sweet to be one. A touch of VA on the nose that gave it good lift, smelled like a Burgundy in a Zalto Burg funnily enough. Better with air as the purple fruit became more expressive. I don't usually like the term full-bodied but it’s a good descriptor for this wine.

Had this in the cellar for five years before popping it tonight. Very dark against the Viña Ardanza. A lot more oak as well. The nose is warmer, with caramel and vanilla, most likely coming from the oak as well. On the palate it is medium to full, acid is lower than its counterpart and fruit is more prominent. There's some sweetness on the mid-palate that vanishes on the finish. I think this may need more time to gain some complexity. Almost no tertiary development is perceivable yet. Good effort.

Got this on closeout for $30 and it was a good buy. Plenty of rich cherry fruit mixes with a variety of oak flavors, notably cedar and vanilla. Smooth, enjoyable, and still going strong.

Full bodied, lots of fruit and vanilla, smooth. Still balanced and enjoyable. A treat to dark chocolate. Too expensive, though.
